Cytodrox 500mg Capsule is used in the treatment of sickle cell anemia.
Cytodrox Capsule side effects
Common
Megaloblastic anemia, Decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), Oligospermia (low sperm count), Azoospermia (absence of sperms).
How to use Cytodrox Capsule
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Cytodrox 500mg Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Cytodrox Capsule works
Hydroxycarbamide causes inhibition of DNA synthesis during the S-phase of cell division by acting as a ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor resulting to cell death. It is S-phase specific.

Pregnancy

Cytodrox 500mg Capsule is unsafe to use during pregnancy. There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Cytodrox 500mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Cytodrox 500mg Capsule may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Cytodrox 500mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Cytodrox 500mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Regular monitoring of kidney function test and some blood tests may be advised while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Cytodrox 500mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Cytodrox 500mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
